Which plumbing, mechanical, electrical, energy, or fire-safety items are affected? What must remain visible for inspection? And what has to be approved before the next trade can proceed?

Field answer: If a Sacramento remodel changes structure, electrical, plumbing, mechanical systems, windows or exterior openings, occupancy, or life-safety conditions, assume permit review may be required until the authority having jurisdiction confirms otherwise. Can demolition start while the permit is under review?

Do not assume it can. Early demolition can expose the property to stop-work risk, damage evidence needed for design, and create an unsafe gap between field conditions and approved documents. Confirm any permitted early-work path with the authority having jurisdiction.

Who should schedule inspections?

The contract should identify one responsible party. On a general-contractor-led project, the contractor typically coordinates readiness, scheduling, access, approved plans, and correction follow-up.

What happens if an inspector finds a correction?

Does passing final inspection replace the contractor’s warranty?
